For almost 50 years Nellie’s has been providing shelter and support for marginalized women and their children in the Greater Toronto Area. We are mandated to operate programs and services for women and children who had or are experiencing violence, poverty, and homelessness. Nellie’s works to lessen homeless for women and their children whether the cause is family violence, mental health, or any other reason that results in dealing with the impact from trauma. In addition to providing shelter, our programs are designed to reduce the isolation that often comes with abuse. Our core operations is delivered from our brand new 36-bed emergency shelter for women and their children who are homeless or escaping violent situations. In addition to our shelter, Nellie’s operates Community Support and Outreach programs that provides after care support and follow-up services to women and their children after they leave the shelter, as well as transitional housing support for women living in the community who are homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless.
Nellie’s operates a 36 bed emergency shelter for women and children who are seeking shelter and / or leaving violence. Nellie’s also operates a community support and outreach program for low income and socially isolated women and children in the community.

The Canadian Partnership Against Cancer (the Partnership) is the steward of the Canadian Strategy for Cancer Control (the Strategy). Its work is guided by the Strategy, which was refreshed for 2019 to 2029 and will help drive measurable change for all Canadians affected by cancer and a future where fewer people get cancer, more people survive cancer and those living with the disease have a better quality of life. The Partnership works with those on the front lines of cancer care, and people living with the disease, to make system-level changes that improve all aspects of the cancer continuum from prevention, screening and diagnosis through to treatment, clinical care, palliative care and survivorship. Partners include provincial and territorial governments, cancer agencies, health organizations, health-care professionals, people living with cancer and those who care for them, as well as First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities, governments and organizations. The Partnership’s work is guided by a commitment to reducing inequities in cancer care for underserviced people in Canada such as those living in rural and remote areas, those with low income and new immigrants, and addressing First Nations, Inuit and Métis Peoples-specific cancer control priorities and actions, outlined in the Strategy, reflecting Canada’s commitment to reconciliation.
